Volunteer Experience

Hillside welcomes both long-term and short term health professional volunteers. Volunteers are readily incorporated into all aspects of the daily Hillside program, especially working with the students in the clinic. Long-term volunteers have the opportunity to contribute to program growth and innovation. A two-week minimum stay is required while long-term volunteers stay one year or longer. We welcome volunteer Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Physical Therapists, Pharmacists, and Public Health Practitioners.

All health care volunteers must obtain a temporary Belize medical license prior to their arrival at Hillside. Our administration will facilitate this licensing process for you and send instructions about required documents and formats. Your documents will need to be submitted at least three months prior to your start date. In addition, volunteers are required to submit a police record. Each volunteer is asked to pay an administrative fee that helps defray the costs of this process.

Hillside Clinic has limited on-campus housing for short-term volunteers.

The volunteer administration fee helps to defray the costs of licensing and coordinating our volunteers. On behalf of the volunteers, staff, and the people of southern Belize, we thank you for your support of Hillside Health Care International and for your interest in our program.

Fee Description & Amounts:

  • Administration fee: $200.00

  • On-campus housing fee for volunteers/preceptors: $15/night or $100/week

Additional Donation:

We greatly appreciate additional donations when paying the administration and housing fee.
